Imphal, Manipur, May 7 (HBTV): The Assam Rifles have introduced a women’s polo team in Manipur.   

The governor of Manipur, Sushri Anusuiya Uikey attended in the launch of the Assam Rifles Women’s Polo Team on Monday at Haflong auditorium, IGAR (South), Mantripukhri.

Addressing the gathering, Uikey hailed Manipur as a place renowned for its rich cultural heritage and prowess in the field of sports, often called a powerhouse of sports in India. Manipuri Polo, also known as Sagol Kangjei, holds a significant place in the history of the country. This ancient sport, with its agile Manipuri ponies and skilled players, stands as a symbol of the state's vibrant identity.  

The emergence of the Assam Rifles Women Polo Team is an honor to the glorious past and for creating a brighter, more inclusive future, Uikey asserted.   

Polo Team players were also felicitated by the Governor of Manipur during the program.
